This blog is a love-hate relationship. I love to write and I hate it when I don’t because everything else in life seemed more important.
The real focus has always been to document what I’m up to and what moves me. And I wish I had done that more the last few years - documented. Because a lot has happened.
And that so much has happened is also the reason why I want to breathe more life into this blog again. Just as it has revealed some of my varied interests and themes over the past few years, just as it has relentlessly revealed my inconsistency time and time again, so shall it document the next few years; hopefully a bit more consistently.
Back to what’s been happening since September 2018. I had taken a new job as a Transformation Lead at a real estate company and had since built an internal transactional application and scrum team. Furthermore, I also managed other applications and helped to build the internal machine learning initiative.
I have learned a lot during this process. I have grown professionally. I made mistakes. I learned a lot about myself and how to work together in teams. I discovered more and more the love for agile software development. And I have now decided that the time has come for me to take the logical next step.
After starting in product management right after my master’s degree and staying more or less true to this field for the last eight plus years, I am now officially starting my journey towards Scrum Master and in the long run towards Agile Coach.
I have determined through a great deal of reflection that this is the step I want to take. I found it to be an exciting experience to guide a team from the early days to the high performance stage over the last few years, so I would like to focus more on this professionally in the future. What I am particularly excited about is that my previous experience “on the other side” will be very helpful going forward.
In November and December 2021, I have now also taken my first certifications with the Scrum Alliance in this regard:
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)
- Certified ScrumMaster (CSM)
The next milestone will be the Advanced Certified Scrum Master (A-CSM), which I am already working on. To gain more knowledge, especially in the coaching area, I will probably also complete the first two levels ICP-ATF and ICP-ACC at ICAgile this year.
I have noticed, especially now with the A-CSM, how much reflection work is included here - and I find it really good. You learn a lot about yourself and your thinking patterns and how to identify them in your team members. And I want to document all of that more now and give a little back to the agile community as well.
I’m looking forward to the journey!
